The Appalachian Policy & World Affairs Network (APWAN) is a volunteer-led, virtual program that connects Appalachian residents—particularly high school and early college students—with the field of international affairs and global policy career resources. Our aim is to encourage participants to “think globally, act locally” by examining how global events impact our region and how Appalachian voices can influence the conversation within the broader policy network. Additionally, we provide information on international fellowships to further support our participants in their pursuits.
APWAN connects Appalachian students and early career professionals to global policy resources, networks, and fellowship opportunities.
You can explore current fellowship and internship opportunities, review career and skill-building resources, and sign up for email updates so you do not miss application windows or deadlines. You can also use APWAN as a starting point to better understand how global policy careers work and what steps are realistic at different stages.
